Isaac is 10!

I am now writing this blog post for the third time.  I write at my own risk, knowing with every letter I type, I could be just preparing my cute commentary so that it can be lost in cyberspace.  It's a big risk, I know, but when you are four months behind on your blog, it's a chance i have to take.
In February, (yes-  I said February.  And it's June) we celebrated my firstborn turning ten years old!

Since the Hunter Family has a slew of February birthdays, we celebrated Isaac, Jude, Corbin and Penelope on Super Bowl Sunday at our house.
It was a little crazy!  There are actually a few people watching the game.
Isaac worked really hard for over a year to save up enough money for a Kindle Fire, so most people gifted him money to go towards that.

He was totally stoked!  Nanny and Papa also splurged (what's new) and gave him this Lego set he's been asking for for years!

On the day of Isaac's Birthday, we just went out to dinner and had gifts.  he wanted Crown Burger, which is a favorite of the boys.  This restaurant was actually featured on Man vs. Food, which is a mark of excellence in the opinion of my boys.  You can see the clip HERE.
Here's the GREAT Lego set from GiGi in Texas!
So after all the monetary gifts for his birthday, Isaac was only $40 away from buying himself a Kindle.  Matt and I were so proud of his hard work and willingness to save that as our gift to him, we pitched in $70 to buy it for him.  (We wanted him to get to keep some of his savings-- he worked so hard!).  This is the reaction we got when he opened it up and found out he wouldn't be penniless!
Isaac also got a friend party this year, but let me tell you something:  Parties for 10 year old boys are the easiest, simplest thing ever.  Here's what he wanted:   Chocolate Cake from Costco and 7 friends over to play video games. No theme, no decorations, just video games.  (Did I mention I hate video games?)  So, with the help of my brother in law, David, we hooked up an extra PS3 and had two sets of games going; one upstairs and one downstairs.  Pretty awesome if you are a 10. And a boy.  And I have to admit, it was the easiest party ever.  Matt supervised the gaming and I actually stopped and worked on PTA stuff for 20 minutes or so.  Party life certainly has changed.
And, hey, I learned something during this experience.  It's very important information for the mother of a son:  Boys actually like watching each other play video games.  In the past, he would have someone over to play and I hear myself saying, " Get out another controller, Isaac." or, "Matt, let the kids play, too."  :)
But apparently, they don't mind watching.  Weird.  Anyhow, they LOVED it!  Huge, easy success for a birthday party.
He actually got four of the exact same Lego set.  And you know what?  He didn't mind one bit.   Isaac is such an easy-going kid.  I tried to exchange a few at the store,  but he had all four of them all put together in his room within a few days of the party.
Isaac, I love you!  I am so honored that God sent you to our home first.  What a blessing it is to be your mom.  I'm afraid you always end up with the brunt of my inexperience, but I'm so glad you are my oldest.  I am grateful for your obedient Spirit, your grateful heart and your helpful nature.  You radiate the goodness of your father and I am thrilled to watch the young man you are becoming.  Although I write this with tears in my eyes (because I cannot believe how fast you went from my tiny newborn to a strong, enormous almost man), I really cannot wait to see the amazing plans God has for you.  I love you.  Forever and Ever.
