Last Wednesday, we ventured out with the Abercrombie Family to see Stuttgart's famous TV tower. It took over two years to build this 700 foot monster back in 1956. This was the first tv tower of reinforced concrete in the world! SO, it had to be pretty great, right? The kids have seen it looming over the landscape all summer, so they were pretty excited to go all the way up to the "tippy-tippy-top"!
I love this one. I have tried several times to think of a way to describe how thick and dense the forest is in this part of Germany. We live very near the Black Forest and while driving down the autobahn, or any street really, you see dark, green trees everywhere. I love it! It is really beautiful- I know that the roads at home will seem barren in comparison when we return. In this pic, you can see the roads from above and how the trees line the streets- it's pretty cool.
Just after that picture, our camera stopped working! We knew the battery had lots of juice left, and we couldn't figure it out! We were so worried- we bought that camera for our trip. Our sweet friends, Steve and Liz, took some pics of the rest of the evening for us:So, here are the five of us on top of the mediocre TV tower:
After our mediocre visit to the TV tower, we had dinner at the little cafe up there. That was pretty fun- you can see the view while you eat! It's no Reunion Tower, but it was good- and we had some yummy desserts! Probably my favorite German desserts since we got here.

After the tower, we stopped at the little playground at the bottom for some more fun for the kids. Of course, we had to try out the teeter totter. All of us. This is Isaac, Daphne, and Zach vs. Matt.
After their little fun, Tori and I decided to try it out, with Matt on the other side. Tori loved it! And it was all fun and games until.... we fell off! I lifted Tori up so she didn't hit the ground- but it was a little scary for a sec... The Abercrombie's were merciful enouch not to photograph that embarrassing moment (as if I needed another one on my resume)! But here we are comforting Tori after!
When we got back to the hotel, we charged our camera for a few hours and it started working again, which was a huge blessing for us- we were very concerned about that. So, now that we are once again armed and dangerous with our photographic device, you can expect our next few posts to have A LOT more pictures!!! You know you love it! Okay, well humor us. You can endure a few thousand pics, can't you?
